The Day the Smoke Rolled

by Donna Lippoldt

Two pro-life leaders from California had flown in to help us with the preparation for the event this Summer. They were following me to Mr. Tiller's and we were heading west on Kellogg. After taking the Oliver exit and turning back east I saw a sight I have never seen before. Smoke billowing out of the incinerator. Brown smoke against the morning sun blazing behind it. It was a roaring fire that made that much smoke. The wind was blowing it southwestward. As I parked my car and got out to go to the gate and meet the other Sidewalk Counselors we began coughing and gagging from the smell as our lungs filled with the smoke and ashes of the little baby boys and girls that were being sacrificed on the corner of Kellogg and Bleckley in Wichita, KS. Our eyes burned, and the odor was horrific. Of course, my first thought was of the concentration camps. How could the Christians have ignored the sounds, the smells, the sight of the smoke, the odor? Surely the wind was blowing and it carried to the cities. Then I thought, how can we, the Christians of Wichita, continue go to work, go out to eat, go to school, go to CHURCH, go to soccer games, football games, track meets, and on and on and on, while babies are dying, while the babies are being sacrificed, while the babies are crying out? What must God think of us? Are we, like the Christians in Germany, just going to sing a little louder so they didn't have to hear the cries as the Jews were screaming from the trains? Are we going to ignore, the smoke, the gagging smells, the odors? The women want someone to stop them.

I appreciate many great men of God who preach against abortion. I have heard many great sermons, and buy tapes when I hear them on the radio. But, most of them stop short of telling us what to do. Where are the Men who are going to lead us to tear down this high place?

God of Heaven help us,

God of Heaven forgive us,

God of Heaven help us,

God of Heaven forgive us

If you could join us on Tuesday, at 11:30 AM at Mr. Tiller's for prayer, we need you to pray with us that God will lead us this Summer. We need you to pray with us that what we do will be effective. We need you to pray and fast that this holocaust will end. I know He has a plan and our desire is to follow Him as He awakens His people to His will. There is a limit to what He will tolerate and many of us feel we are almost to the end. Jesus created each of those children, in His Image, and when they are sacrificed it feels to me like we are sacrificing Jesus all over again. I hope you will never have to experience what I did yesterday, but I will never forget the day the smoke rolled.

God of Heaven, help us.

God of Heaven, forgive us.
